SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford's
Olivia Bagg and Samford's Amiel Dabney claimed women's field and track athlete of the week honors, respectively, while VMI's Liam McBride and Isaiah Blount have been named the Southern Conference men's indoor track and field athletes of the week, respectively the conference office announced Wednesday.
Selections were made by panels of the league's track and field coaches and included all competition from Jan. 31 to February 6.
Wofford's Bagg competed at the VMI Winter Relays on Friday. The sophomore from Bridgewater, England, won the pentathlon with 3,427 points. She was first in the 60-meter hurdles and second in the long jump. Among Southern Conference leaders, she is ranked first in the pentathlon and fifth in the long jump.
This is the first SoCon weekly award of her career and the third by a Terrier this season, joining
Ella Tennant and
Sherika Christie.
The Wofford track and field team will be back in action on February 9 and 10 at the VMI Winter Classic.
