SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford men's tennis team rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat UNC Asheville, 4-3, on Monday afternoon at Reeves Tennis Center.

The win improves the Terriers to 9-4 on the season, including an 8-1 mark at home.

"Winning today was like wrestling a bear," coach
Rod Ray said. "We couldn't think about what might happen, but we had to stay focused on the opportunity to demonstrate bravery and ambition. I'm especially proud in how focused Julian was in getting the comeback win."

The Terriers started off the match strong, winning two of three doubles matches to jump out to a 1-0 lead. After the no. 1 doubles team of
Haris Poric and
Julian Chousa dropped their match to Henry Patten and Josh Swindler, 6-4, the Terriers rebounded with two straight wins to take the point. First,
Andrew Graham and
Patrick Longest earned a 6-3 win in the no. 2 doubles position. Minutes later, the no. 3 team of
Lucas Cerbelli and
Jack Thomas defeated the Bulldogs team of Reid Dillon and Olly Cull, 6-3.

In singles action, UNC Asheville recaptured some momentum by taking the first two matches. The Bulldogs received a win from Patten (6-2, 6-2) in the no. 1 slot. Then, in the no. 3 position, Cull won his match, 6-0, 6-3 to give UNC Asheville a 2-1 lead.

Kyle Barr won in the no. 5 spot for the Terriers (6-2, 6-3) over the Bulldogs' Andrew Sinai. In three sets, Wofford's
Julian Chousa outlasted Reid Dillon (3-6, 6-4, 6-2) in the no. 4 position.

 Moments later, the Terriers clinched the match when freshman
Peter Coombs won a lengthy second set tiebreaker to take down UNC Asheville's James Massie (6-3, 7-6 (12-10)) to give Wofford the win. Coombs is now 3-1 this season in singles play.

Even with the outcome of the match already decided,
Parks Schoen battle back to force a second set tiebreak, before falling to Swindler, 7-5, 7-6 (7-4).

Up next, the Terriers will break for over a week, before they return to action to host Stetson next Tuesday at 3 p.m.
