Outdoor Track and Field Competes In Three Meets

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford College men's and women's track and field teams competed in three meets over the past two days. The Hub City Invitational was held on Friday in Spartanburg, the Gamecock Invite was in Columbia on Saturday, while the Tobacco Road Challenge was hosted by Duke University on Friday and Saturday.
 
At the Hub City Invitational, Alexus Atkins won the women's 1,500 meters in 4:48.54 and Dahlia Cutler won the 400 meters in 57.44. Cutler added a sixth-place finish in the 200 meters. Chandler Robinson was fifth in the long jump at 5.36 meters. Ben McElveen was fifth in the men's 1,500 meters at 4:17.81 and Jaylen Muhammad was fifth in the 100 meters at 11.03. In the men's 200 meters, Conor Murphy was third at 21.93, Sam Larkin was fourth at 22.02 and Jaylen Muhammad was fifth at 22.17. Kelly Hogan was fourth in the shot put at 11.61 meters and fifth in the hammer at 41.38 meters. Alexis Rhine was cleared 2.55 meters in the pole vault for sixth place and was fourth in the high jump at 1.52 meters. Paul Szuba was second in the javelin at 46.27 meters.
 
The Tobacco Road Challenge on Friday and Saturday was impacted by weather. In the heptathlon, Megan Dunn was seventh overall with 4,938 points which included a second-place finish in the javelin. Netanya Linares was tenth with 4,494 points. The decathlon was ended after three events on Friday, with Tanner Henry in tenth place.
 
On Saturday at the Gamecock Invite, Jenna Reid won the javelin with a throw of 42.47 meters and Kelly Hogan was 11th at 30.45 meters. Jasmine Jefferson was 12th in the 400 meters at 57.12. Kerrington Johnson advanced to the finals of the 100-meter hurdles and was sixth at 13.86. in the 110-meter hurdles, Isaiah Ellis advanced to the finals and set a new school record with a time of 14.30 to place fifth. Ellis added a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles in 52.12. In the 200 meters, Georgia McDevitt was 11th in 24.44.
 
The team will compete on April 16 and 17 at Western Carolina before the Southern Conference Championship on May 1 and 2 is also held in Cullowhee.
