SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Offense was on full display for the Wofford baseball team at Russell C. King Field Saturday as the Terriers swept both ends of a doubleheader against Fordham. Wofford claimed game one 6-3 behind
Gunnar Johnson's clutch home run in the eighth before rolling to a 29-3 drubbing in game two with numerous program records set. The Terriers improve to 8-2 with Fordham dropping to 2-7.
Â
Game One
Terrier reliever
Morgan Lunceford (2-0) earned the win after tossing the final 3.0 innings with one run on three hits and four strikeouts. Starter
Zac Cowan pitched the first 6.0 innings with two runs (one earned) allowed on six hits with five punchouts.
Â
Aric Berg (0-2) of the Rams suffered the loss in relief after pitching 2.0 innings and allowing three runs on three hits and a walk.

Â
The Rams struck first in the top of the first when a fielding error allowed a run to score. But Wofford had a quick answer in the bottom of the inning. Lead-off man
Marshall Toole did his job, working an 11-pitch at-bat before taking that 11
th pitch for a ride with a lead-off solo home run to even the game at 1-1.
Â
A bases-loaded bit-by-pitch in the second gave Fordham a second run, and it held that 2-1 lead until the fourth. That was when
Brice Martinez played long ball with his own solo homer. The game was tied once more, 2-2.
Â
In the bottom of the fifth,
Tyler Hare joined the party with his own solo clout, giving Wofford its first lead of the game at 3-2.
Â
In the eighth, Fordham recorded its own solo homer to tie the affair once more at 3-all. But in the bottom of the inning, one more long ball would decide it all. After the Terriers loaded the bases,
Gunnar Johnson came up and launched a three-run bomb over the trees in left field to push Wofford ahead 6-3.
Â
Morgan Lunceford remained on the bump for the ninth and shut the door to seal Wofford's 6-3 win in game one of the doubleheader.
Â
Game Two
Mike Eggert (2-0) made his first start of the season and secured the win with 4.0 scoreless innings and six strikeouts to just three hits and one walk.

Â
Ram starter Dominic Cunha (0-3) suffered the loss after allowing seven runs (six earned) on two walks and four hits. He faced seven batters and did not record an out.
Â
For an offense that has been stellar all season, the Terriers took it up a notch in game two by setting a couple of single-game program records. The 29 runs are the most in a game, topping the previous high of 27, done twice prior with both instances coming against Allen in 1987. Wofford's 26 hits top the previous record of 24, done three times prior and most recently against Elon in 2009.

Andrew Mannelly and
Tyler Hare both totaled four-hit efforts, with Mannelly knocking home four RBI and Hare having three.
Marshall Toole and
Dixon Black both had three-hit days, and Toole had four RBI and Black two. Black reached base five total times by also working two walks.
Brice Martinez,
Gunnar Johnson,
Daniel Jackson and
Tyler Bak all had two-hit games. Jackson tallied a career-high four RBI, and Bak's hits are the first of his career.
Lucas Manning drove home a career-high three runs, and
Logan Tribble recorded his first-career base hit with two RBI, also a first. Toole swiped two bases in the game, both coming in the first inning and each coming on separate trips on base.
Â
After a 1-2-3 top of the first by
Mike Eggert, the Terrier offense came up and wasted no time in making the game's outcome apparent. A bases-loaded walk drawn by
Brice Martinez began what became a 10-run innings.
Gunnar Johnson added two more runs with a single, and
Tyler Hare added another RBI single.
Daniel Jackson added his own two-run single, and
Marshall Toole's second trip to the plate in the inning was yet again an RBI single.
Dixon Black hit an RBI double before
Andrew Mannelly singled him home. A wild pitch would plate Mannelly for the 10
th and final run of the onslaught.
Â
The scoring continued with six more runs in the second with an error plating one before
Jack Renwick was hit with a pitch with the bases loaded. Toole's two-run single preceded a Mannelly two-run single. Wofford led 16-0.
Â
In the third, Hare tripled home a run before Jackson added an RBI groundout to make the score 18-0.
Â
