LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Wofford College men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed on Friday and Saturday at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational host by Liberty University. The Terriers had numerous top ten performances in the competitive field, including a first place in the 60-meter hurdles by
Destiny Shippy.
During Friday's events for the women,
Kerrington Johnson and
Destiny Shippy both qualified for the finals of the 60-meter hurdles.
Madeline McNinch was 12
th in the 60-meter dash preliminaries at 7.83. In the 400 meters,
Jasmine Jefferson was second in 57.53 and
Dahlia Cutler was sixth at 59.13.
Alexus Atkins was 13
th in the mile.
Netanya Linares was 10
th in the pole vault,
Georgia McDevitt was seventh in the long jump and
Jenna Reid was eighth in the weight throw.
For the men on Friday,
Sam Larkin was fourth and
Elijah Bull was fifth in the 400 meters.
Sam Kamara was 16
th in the 60-meters at 7.13. In the 5,000 meters,
Beck Classey was fifth in 15:36.32, with
Demir Degirmenci sixth and
Ryan O'Malley eighth in the event.
Isaiah Ellis was ninth in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.28.
T.J. Maxey took eighth place in the pole vault and
Tanner Henry was fifth in the long jump.
On Saturday in the track events,
Destiny Shippy was first in the 60-meter hurdles finals in 8.62 and
Kerrington Johnson was second in 8.69.
Madeline McNinch was third in the 200 meters in 24.92 and
Georgia McDevitt was eighth in the event.
Janie Holecek was 13
th in the 800 meters. The women's 4x400 relay team of
Jasmine Jefferson,
Madeline McNinch,
Dahlia Cutler and
Georgia McDevitt was second in 3:54.01.
Sam Larkin took ninth place in the 200 meters with a time of 22.24.
Ford McCoy was 18
th in the 800 meters at 1:59.21. The men's 4x400 relay team of
Sam Larkin,
Conor Murphy,
Isaiah Ellis and
Elijah Bull was fourth in a school-record time of 3:18.66.
In the field events on Saturday,
Tanner Henry was fourth in the high jump at 2.00 meters and
Christopher Sheppard was fifth in the triple jump at 13.55 meters.
Netanya Linares was sixth in the high jump at 1.60 meters and
Rylee Jorgensen was 16
th in the triple jump.
The meet included Appalachian State, Campbell, East Carolina, ETSU, High Point, Liberty, North Carolina, Northeastern, Toledo, Towson, UNCG, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Western Carolina, and William & Mary.
Up next, the teams will compete in the Southern Conference Championships on February 27 and 28 in Lexington.
