Jones was a standout on the defensive line at Wofford and holds career records in tackles for loss with 66 and career sacks with 30 and a half. He was named first team All-Southern Conference in 2002 by the media and coaches, along with second team Associated Press All-America honors in 2002. As a senior, he played in all twelve games with 58 tackles. He led the team with 28 tackles for loss of 98 yards, which is a school record, and had 15 and a half sacks for a loss of 78 yards, which ranks second in school history in a single season. During his junior season, he led the team with 20 tackles for loss and also had the team lead with nine sacks. As a sophomore, he recorded 12 tackles for loss and five sacks despite missing two games. He played as a true freshman and had six tackles for loss among his 29 total tackles. Jones is a native of Lexington, Kentucky.
