Conley Snidow was the winningest coach in Wofford football history.  In 14 years (1953-66) he recorded 10 winning seasons and a total of 77 victories.  Before coming to Wofford, he had been a successful coach at Emory & Henry.  As a collegiate head coach, Snidow had a combined 118 victories.  Snidow replaced the legendary Phil Dickens as head coach in 1953.  However, Snidow did well in his own right with winning campaigns in each of his first five seasons.  Snidow’s teams continually fared well against Southern Conference competition.  At one point during the mid-fifties, the Terriers won nine straight games against Southern Conference opponents.  A football innovator, Snidow popularized his own version of the T-formation.  After resigning as head coach in 1966, he continued to serve the College as athletic director until 1971.
