In 2007, Waring led the team to the Southern Conference Championship and the NCAA Tournament. He was named a semifinalist for the Brooks Wallace Award (top college player), along with ABCA/Rawlings first team All-American and Baseball America second team All-America honors. Named the 2007 Southern Conference Tournament MVP, he received first team All-Southern Conference honors at third base. In addition, he was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District second team. Waring holds school records for games played in a season (63), hits in a season (89), runs scored in a season (73), single-season home runs (27), and total bases in a season (189), plus he is ranked second in RBIs in a season (74). Among career leaders, Waring is seventh in career RBIs, sixth in career home runs, 11th in career total bases, and seventh in career slugging percentage. A native of West Columbia, South Carolina, he left Wofford after his junior year (2007) as he was drafted in the seventh round of the MLB Draft by the Cincinnati Reds. After an eight-year career in the minor leagues, reaching the AAA level, he returned to Wofford and graduated in May of 2015.
