As a senior in 2009, Schuermann was named a third team All-America selection as he scored five goals for 10 points with two game-winning goals. As a defender, he helped lead the Terriers to the 2009 SoCon Regular Season and Tournament Championships and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. He was a key part of a defense that allowed 0.95 goals against in 2009. He is one of only nine players in Wofford history to score a hat trick and only the third during the Division I Era. Schuermann’s hat trick vs. Furman on Nov. 3, 2009 secured Wofford’s regular season championship. He was named to the All-Southern Conference, NSCAA All- South and Scholar All-South First Teams in 2009. He also earned CoSIDA Academic All-District Second Team honors in 2008 and 2009. A biology major from Fort Mill, South Carolina, he started all 65 career matches played.
