James Ellerbe "Daddy" Neal was named first team All-South Carolina in 1951-52 and ’52-53. He was captain of the Little Four Tournament All-Stars in 51-52 and 52-53. Set all-time South Carolina season scoring record with 751 points in 52-53. Led the nation in scoring with a 32.7 mark. Set All-time school records for points in a season, points per game, field goal percentage (46.1), and rebounds (609 in 23 games for 26.5 average). Scored 2,078 points in four varsity seasons. Played in the NBA with the Syracuse Nationals for two seasons and part of one season with the Baltimore Bullets.
