Hall of Fame
A two-time Academic All-American, he graduated Phi Beta Kappa. He captured two-thirds of the Triple Crown his junior year as he led the nation in batting (.490) and home runs per game (0.7) with 20 roundtrippers in 30 contests. He also topped the country in slugging percentage (1.163).
The Columbia, SC, native held six school records. He was a two-time selection to the All-Region team while earning first-team All-State honors from the South Carolina College Coaches Association.
Laughlin holds the school record with hits in nine consecutive plate appearances (four of those were home runs). He batted .393 as a senior with 16 home runs and 46 RBI.
